Release note

A Thinger.io library for Node-RED

After several months without publishing our progress here, we want to start sharing our updates as before. Today we announce that we are working on a library for Node-RED that allows working with workflows, adding a vast amount of capabilities and interoperability to the Thinger.io ecosystem.

Release note

Component
Node-RED
Expected release
September 2018

First release

The nodes expected in the first release

Some of the expected features (nodes) for Node-RED in the first release:

  • Read/subscribe to device data
  • Send data to a device
  • Call an endpoint
  • Read/Write data bucket
  • Read device state (connected/disconnected)

This way, it would be possible to add intelligence and logic to the devices connected to Thinger.io. We are also planning to add a hosted solution of Node-RED (under subscription) and integrate it in our console administration. What do you think about that?

Additional information

A preliminary version is already working

A Node-RED flow: a Thinger.io node reading nodemcu/bme680 every 10 seconds, marked connected, feeds a switch node and a payload function, which send to two Thinger.io nodes, email and alarm/light
The preliminary version: a Thinger.io node reads the bme680 resource of a nodemcu device every 10 seconds, a switch and a function process it, and two Thinger.io nodes send it on to email and alarm/light.
