ClimaStick Contest

A showcase for the IoT projects that often go unnoticed

At Thinger.io, we have always been passionate about the work and innovations of students and researchers in the field of IoT development.

The contest aimed to showcase the countless creative projects that often go unnoticed. By sharing these innovations, we hoped to inspire others to explore, create and push the boundaries of IoT technology.

The prize

Up to 10 ClimaStick devices

As part of the contest, we offered up to 10 ClimaStick devices as special prizes for the winners.

The ClimaStick is an IoT device designed for educational and environmental monitoring purposes. It features sensors for measuring temperature, humidity and air quality, along with additional capabilities for detecting luminosity, magnetism and motion (gyroscope). Its compact size and wireless capabilities make it versatile for various applications, from smart homes to industrial settings.

We believe that by providing access to technology like the ClimaStick, we can further empower our community to explore and develop new IoT solutions.

How it worked

Three steps to take part

Participation took three simple steps, all of them free.

Create a Thinger.io account

Participants signed up on the platform through the Thinger.io sign-up page, if they had not already. Any of our community and private cloud instances were valid.

Join our Discord community

They connected with other IoT enthusiasts by joining our Discord server.

Submit the IoT project

They shared their project (PDF or Word) in the #showcase channel on Discord. The project had to use Thinger.io to manage and monitor the device data.

Deadline

Deadline and winner announcement

Projects were due by 30 September 2024, and the winners were to be announced on 31 October 2024 on our Discord server and social media channels.

The contest ran under its legal bases (PDF). We could not wait to see the projects and how participants used Thinger.io to bring them to life. Whether a project was big or small, it was eligible for a prize: we encouraged all makers and community members to participate and showcase their creativity.

Good luck to all participants!
