6Data We Process on Behalf of Our Customers

When a customer uses the Thinger.io platform (for example, a Thinger.io Cloud account or a Private Cloud instance), the device data and the personal data of its end users stored in that account or instance are processed by us on the customer's behalf, as a processor. The customer is the controller of that data and decides how it is used. We process it only to provide the Services, under our Terms & Conditions and, where applicable, a data processing agreement.

If you are an end user of a customer's account or instance and want to exercise your rights over that data, please contact that customer. We will assist the customer as required by law.

7Recipients and Data Sharing (Disclosures)

We do not sell your personal data.

We may share personal data with:

  • Service providers (processors) that help us operate the Services. They process data under our instructions and subject to appropriate contractual safeguards. The main ones are:
    • Hosting, database hosting and email delivery: Amazon Web Services (AWS).
    • Email, calendar and video meetings: Google (Google Workspace, including Google Calendar and Google Meet).
    • Website analytics, only with your consent: Google (Google Analytics).
    • Payments: Stripe.
    • Invoicing and accounting: Holded.
    • Bot protection on our forms: Cloudflare (Turnstile).
    • Customer support: our helpdesk tool (Freshdesk).
    • Newsletters: our self-hosted newsletter tool.
    • Internal communication and management tools used by our team.
  • Professional advisors (legal, accounting) when necessary.
  • Public authorities when required by law or to protect rights and safety.

8Data Retention

We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described above:

  • Contact requests: for the time needed to handle your request and follow-up; then stored for a limited period for record-keeping and legal defense (typically up to 2 years depending on limitation periods).
  • Meeting bookings: 12 months after the date of the meeting.
  • Accounts and service data: for as long as your account is active; after deletion, data may be retained for a limited period for security, backups, and legal obligations.

  • Billing and invoices: retained for the periods required by Spanish commercial and tax law (at least 6 years).
  • Security logs: retained for a limited period necessary for security monitoring and incident investigation (about 1 month).
  • Backups: kept for up to 12 months, then deleted.
  • Cookies/trackers: see our Cookie Policy for cookie-specific durations.

9International Data Transfers

Our own systems run on Amazon Web Services in the European Union (Ireland, with backups in Frankfurt, Germany).

Private Cloud instances run in the AWS region the customer selects when purchasing them, which may be outside the European Economic Area (EEA).

Some of our service providers may also store or process data outside the EEA, for example in the United States.

Where international transfers occur, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as:

  • European Commission adequacy decisions, including the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework for providers certified under it, and/or
  • Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs), and additional measures where necessary.

Details can be requested via info@thinger.io.

10Your Rights (GDPR)

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Rectification of inaccurate data
  • Erasure (“right to be forgotten”)
  • Restriction of processing
  • Data portability
  • Objection to processing based on legitimate interests, including marketing communications

To exercise your rights, contact us at info@thinger.io. We may request information to verify your identity. For data stored in a customer's account or instance, see Section 6.

11Right to Lodge a Complaint (Supervisory Authority)

If you believe our processing of your personal data infringes data protection law, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.

For Spain, the supervisory authority is the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (AEPD).

12Security Measures

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal data against accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorized disclosure, or access. Our information security management system is certified under ISO/IEC 27001.

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data using industry-standard practices.
