Lamclima: climate know-how as a service

A climate control firm from Santiago whose own 4G hardware watches the technical rooms of Chile's state railway network, raising the alarm while a failing room is still cold.

Who they are

Climate engineers first

Lamclima is the climate brand of Grupolam, an engineering firm in Santiago de Chile that designs, installs, maintains and repairs air conditioning and refrigeration equipment. More than a decade of that work taught the team exactly how climate equipment fails, and what it costs when it does.

That knowledge became a second business: its own monitoring service, LAMCLIMA Monitoreo IoT.

The service

What their clients see

A failing climate unit rarely trips a breaker. It drifts: a supply temperature that creeps up, a room that dries out, a phase that sags. The sheet below redraws the dashboards Lamclima's clients open, starting with the videowall that puts every room on one screen, each cell refreshing in seconds and coloured by state.

WALL

The room videowall

FIG. 01

The general dashboard runs as a videowall: one row per technical room, one cell per reading, coloured by state and refreshing every few seconds.

PRB

Probe on the unit, sensor in the room

FIG. 02

Each climate unit carries its own probe next to the room's ambient sensor, so a unit losing its cooling shows up as drift long before the room overheats.

EQUIPMENT PROBES · AMBIENT °C · DRIFT VS THRESHOLD

HUM

Humidity, watched like temperature

FIG. 03

Relative humidity gets the same bands and the same colours: a room drifting too dry or too damp turns its cell red on the wall.

3PH

The three-phase system

FIG. 04

The SISTEMA TRIFASICO dashboards read the supply itself: phase to neutral voltage, current, power and frequency per phase, plus the meter's own CPU temperature.

COR

Along the central corridor

FIG. 05

Device groups sit in technical rooms along the state railway's central corridor, all reporting to the same console. No room is identified here by design.

FIG. 06

A reading leaves its band, the cell changes colour at the next refresh and the alarm rule notifies the crew, while the room is still within limits.

Their clients' name on the header

Each client group is a project with its own permissions, and its dashboards carry the client's own identity co-branded in the header. Lamclima runs the service; the client sees their own operation.

Results

Caught while it is still drift

For the people responsible for the railway's technical rooms, the change is the moment of discovery. A cooling failure used to show up as a fault, found on a site visit or after the damage. Now it shows up as drift, hours or days ahead: the videowall turns a cell amber, the alarm rule fires and a crew rolls to a room that is still cold.

Lamclima's stated aim for its clients: maximise the availability of their equipment while optimising operating costs.

As stated by Lamclima in its own public communication.

Under the hood

How the service is built

LAMCLIMA Monitoreo IoT is a white label instance of Thinger.io on AWS: Lamclima's domain, branding and users, with device management, data buckets, dashboards, alarms and endpoints underneath. Each client group is a project with its own team and permissions, on dashboards co-branded with its identity.

In the field, the IOTX 4G reads each unit's probes, the room's temperature and humidity and the three-phase supply. The videowall colours each cell by state while alarm rules keep watch around the clock.

Equipment probes, ambient sensors and three-phase meters report over 4G from IOTX devices to Lamclima's white label console, running on a dedicated Thinger.io instance on AWS for its operations crew and its clients.
